When we first dabbled in publishing web sites around 1998, one of our first projects was this "Maligayang Pasko Chordbook" (or "Merry Christmas Chordbook") with guitar chords and lyrics of Filipino Christmas songs and carols with the help of members of our original MSC Band who are all performing musicians now. Over the years, with very few updates, it has been growing in popularity. We recently added some YouTube videos to the pages, which are really cool.

"Christmas in our hearts" is one of our favorites, and it a beautiful song celebrating the joy and happiness of the holidays and remembering God. The video features the duet of the composer-singer Jose Mari Chan and his daughter Liza Chan.

/Whenever I see girls and boys, selling lanterns in the streets I remember the Child, in the manger as He sleeps Whenever there are people, giving gifts exchanging cards I believe that Christmas, is truly in their hearts Let's light our Christmas trees, for a bright tomorrow Where nations are at peace, and all are one in God./

Sisterhood - San Pablo City & Village of Bolingbrook

Mr. Romy Balcita, president of the Seven Lakes Association - Midwest Chapter, initiated the sisterhood of the City of San Pablo & the Village of Bolingbrook (Illinois). The delegation from the US led by Mayor Roger Claar, was composed of 16 members from the villages of Bolingbrook, Chanahan, and Crest Hill, Mayor Cook and Churnuvic included.

A street in Bolingbrook will be named after the City of Seven Lakes while the road to the Gawad Kalinga Village in San Pablo was named Bolingbrook Street.

The trade and tourism mission's delegation was received by the Office of the Mayor and the Sanguniang Panglunsod together with the members of the Lingap sa Pitong Lawa, the Kiwanis Clubs of Lake City & Siete Lagos, San Pabl0 Chamber of Commerce and the representatives of the Dept. of Trade and Industry, DOT, and DFA.

A presentation of the business opportunities was conducted at Max's where luncheon was hosted by City Mayor Vicente B. Amante, followed by a side trip to Villa Escudero, and the signing of the Sisterhood Agreement at the G&E Garden Pavillion with the dinner banquet hosted by Mr. Balcita and the Midwest Chapter Seven Lakes Association.

Feeding program for Sta. Veronica Elem. School pupils sponsored by past SLI President Alice Guia and her family. The feeding program is done every recess during school days. Clothes, books and other school supplies were also given each pupil during the Christmas season last year through the Lingap sa Pitong Lawa and the Kiwanis Clubs of Lakes City & Siete Lagos.

A Letter for Seven Lakes International Chapters thru Pres. Ding Cunanan

Dear Ding,

Ken, Lerma and I met to discuss the projects here in the Philippines which could be supported by SLI member organizations. We have several projects in mind both for donations and investments.

We discussed the possibility of SLI member organizations adopting a barangay coconut enteprise. The cost per barangay is PHP 50,000 which will be used to buy equipment in producing virgin coconut oil and also coco vinegar. We have already a market for these products. The PHP 50,000 will be given back to the organization after 3 years so that you can use it to fund other projects. We will email to you the business plan of this coconut enteprise next week. The coco enterprise is also open for investment to individuals by becoming member of the Coco Natur OFW and Producers Coopertive. For a minimum of PHP 5,000, you can already have 50 shares to the cooperative. The cooperative will produce virgin coconut oil, coconut flour and coconut vinegar for export.

We would also like to create a data base of the different organizations and individuals who have contributed and continuously contribute to community projects in San Pablo. We would like to see the magnitude of this support and its impact on community development. We are planning to present this during the convention in January and also write an article in a national daily about the impact of philanthropy of San Pablenos to community development. Aside from the SLI organizations, if you know individuals who are providing assistance, please let us know. I am attaching the questionnaire for groups and individuals.

I also updated SLI on the status of the projects that you have supported. This is all for now till next mail.

Dear Kababayans:

We are glad to inform you that the 6th Convention of Seven Lakes International will be held in San Pablo City on January 18-20, 2008. This
Convention will be attended by officers and members of various organizations of San Pablenos in the United States and Canada and other parts of the world; other groups and individuals in San Pablo City led by our affiliate chapter Lingap Sa Pitong Lawa and other interested expatriate San Pablenos who are not presently involved in our organization.

Aside from bringing together overseas San Pablenos for a reunion in their home city, the convention will discuss ways and means of pulling their collective resources in order to assist our kababayans more effectively.

Our host organization, Lingap sa Pitong Lawa in San Pablo City and key leaders of the SLI have decided to sponsor a “Miss SLI Pageant” representing our various chapters in the USA and Canada. This is not a typical “beauty contest;” ballots will be printed and distributed to all chapters who will choose a candidate as a means of raising funds to support projects being funded by our international federation. The “Miss SLI” winners and runner-ups will ride in a special float during the Coconut Festival Parade on January 14, 2008 and all Balikbayan delegates will walk beside them. Therefore, all delegates are expected to be in San Pablo at least one week before the City Fiesta on January 15th.

We are forwarding to you some promotional flyers about the convention. More details would be sent to you in our succeeding communication. Meanwhile, please help us recruit prospective delegates from your chapter and start scouting your prospective contestants for the “Miss SLI Pageant.” The rules for the pageant will be issued very shortly by our past president Alice Enriquez who is the chair of our Pageant Committee.

We are in the process of updating our SLI website and we are requesting you to please send us the list of the current officers and directors of your local chapter, if you have not already done so. Also, please send us a brief information of the projects your chapter had supported, continues to

support or expects to support to help our kababayans in San Pablo. We require this information for our SLI Newsletter so our members in different areas of the world would know what we are all doing for our home city and our people who are in need of assistance.

The Sampaloc Lake Viewdeck

The Sampaloc Lake Viewdeck is a joint tourism project of the Seven Lakes International, the Kiwanis Clubs of Lake City, Siete Lagos, San Pablenos, and Sampaloc Lake with the San Pablo City Government. It is were the Andres Bonifacio monument is also located. At the center of the viewdeck is a piece of log recovered from Sampaloc Lake by local divers and on each corner are boulders with the brass markers of SLI and Kiwanis International.

SLI Room at the Women Center

The Seven Lakes International financed the rehabilitation of one of the rooms at the ATIKHA wing of the San Pablo Women's Center. Furniture are made from "century old logs" recovered from Sampaloc Lake.
